To help you understand my posts better, I've put together a glossary of terms commonly used in my entries ;)
Kek
It means: cake.
It all started when I asked my grandma (who is mandarin-speaking),
"Mama, 你的生日快到了, 要我做什么蛋糕 ?"
"我要 stawbelly kek"
Db / Eb / Ab
It means: Da bao, Er bao, Ah bao.
Like literally 大宝, 二宝, 阿宝 LOL.
During my primary school days, I came up with these nicknames for my 2 younger sisters and myself. Even my parents, relatives and close friends call us Db, Eb and Ab. It's super lame but it just stuck. I ALWAYS have to explain this to new friends, which is quite funny!
Nya Nya
It means: mother.
I am not Peranakan; picked this up from a TV show and I have been calling my mum Nya Nya ever since.
Ahlao
It means: my husband Ahpei.
You have to read it as 'Ah 老' cos Ahpei is an old soul and really just a very very traditional Chinese uncle despite his age HAHA.
ZBJ
It means: Zhu Ba Jie.
A term I picked up from Ahpei, it can be used to describe almost anything, An annoying person, a cute person, a bowl of noodles, a shitty situation, a funny moment, or just to express a feeling. Like, "Wah zbj, the weather damn hot today!"
Gugubie
It means: my dog Gooby.
Actually he has more than a dozen nicknames accumulated from time to time but I mostly call him gugubie hehe.
His full name is Gooby Gugubie Gubi Ahgu Bendan Mamading Baobao Wong.
