Nail update! Can't believe it's been a month! Went for a pedicure at J Nail Studio last week :)

When Jess first contacted me and told me they were located at Bukit Timah Plaza, I was so happy cos I was literally 10 minutes away!

Here's a photo of her cosy studio.

She also conducts nail art classes for those of you who are interested! :)
Since I had Gelish on, Kate (my pedicurist) helped me remove them. Unlike the usual manual filing (which can hurt if not done properly), she used a small electric file to gently file off the gel. Soak off was done with these cute plastic clippers!

My first time seeing these!
Next was my favourite part, filing off dead skin on my soles! I stand a lot at work while I bake, so the condition of my soles... Pretty much shitty.

I have so many good things to say about this thing!!

Firstly, the rough file patch (black part) can be replaced after every use, to maintain hygiene. This is so awesome cos at other places, they usually use one file for 4528319057 pair of feet. Thanks.

Secondly, filing is so much easier for the pedicurist since all Kate had to do was hold my foot and gently guide the file around my problem areas and the electric file would do the work. No violent shaking of your leg so no embarrassment haha.

How many of you cringed so hard when your pedicurist grabbed your leg and shook it while struggling to file it for a good 3 minutes?!!

Thirdly, since this is a 'dry treatment', no soaking is required before filing. This is good because when you soak your feet, moisture can cause fungal growth in your nails when they can't dry in time before the Gelish. And when everything gets coated and sealed, yuck. Fungal growth leads to smelly feet!

Btw if you're worried the filing might hurt, you're wrong! A foot callus softener spray is applied to your problem areas before filing so you don't feel any major sensation at all. Really. After filing, a damp cloth is used to wipe off the powdery residue that is your dead skin. Haha.

Next, Kate proceeded to light a very special candle. When it melts, it doesn't turn into thick wax, but massage oil!

Kate used an electric file that looks like this.
I was worried it would hurt (cos it looks very hot?!) but surprisingly it was not even warm lol. Kate also let the oil touch her own hands before flowing onto my skin. Aww. Cue awesome possum leg massage.

Choosing colours. Always a headache cos there's so many chio ones! Finally settled for SIX because I am horribly greedy.

While all these happened, Jess also very kindly offered wifi (yay to free wifi) & and a tablet loaded with movies & e-magazines for me to enjoy! Service was amazing.

After some time, my pedi was done! I made myself not to steal glances at Kate while she was painting my nails cos I wanted to be surprised at the final look. And boy was I surprised.

This was the design I chose from their magazine but I wanted it to be less 'neat' and more freestyle so she did exactly what I wanted!

Who has better feet? Obviously me.
Needless to say, I am very pleased with the colours and design. Can't wait to go back again next month! :)
