Was writing on Dayre when I sidetracked and talked about my online shopping woes so I thought I’d share them here as well. Ever since a friend introduced me to online shopping some 7 or 8 years ago (thank you Tiffany!), I have been shopping in front of my laptop most of the time. Yes it was those livejournal sprees and I still do that now. It’s super convenient! I usually shop from 2 places, asos or Forever 21. Reason being they offer LEGIT HUMAN SIZES IN LEGIT HUMAN CUTTINGS. Not every girl is XS or S you know. Hate it when shops offer XS-L when their shit are actually XXXS-M. Hello?? I have nothing against small or skinny girls by the way. I know I like my food so I am dealing with being size L but there is really nothing wrong with being size L too :) As long as you eat right (occasionally not right also never mind) and try to exercise or be active in your daily life. You just have to be comfortable with your own body image :) Btw asos quite sucky now, they don't update their stuff (in the sale section) very often and they make clothes that are mostly unwearable cos there are SO MANY HOLES. Like so: HOLES HOLES HOLES. And it gets worse.. asos why you waste cloth?? Do people actually buy these? I cannot imagine them being remotely comfortable.. Back in those days there were proper tops and dresses and I bought so much shit that are legit and I really really loved them. But now… Can’t say the same. I guess asos is more fashion fashion. If you know what I mean. Actually what is fashion? Lots of 'fashionable' clothes are not even wearable.. You'd either have to go braless or look like a stick to carry off the look. Talking about you backless tops & dresses!! Sometimes you find this perfect dress then they go cut a big hole behind. And some tops can't even cover my boobs don't get me started.. More examples of #fail clothes: I think sometimes designers forget that we have to move, walk around, bend down, climb stairs in the clothes. We do not just put them on and stand there to take photos you know.. HAHA I am just being extreme but you get what I mean. My favourite to shop from is still Forever 21. I MUST browse their new arrivals everyday. Eb can attest to that lol. Every morning at the shop without fail. I turn on the laptop, not to check that day’s baking schedule but to look at Forever 21. The current collection is kinda edgy and very basic. Not all of their stuff is my style but I still have to look. F21 has their fair share of frustrating clothes too. For example this dress: It looks pretty nice, though a normal bra would be a problem, but assuming you don’t mind going strapless, so it’s okay right? Then you click again to look at the back.. BOOM. No need to buy already. Another example: It looks like a pretty harmless maxi dress that will cover all your bits, then.. BOOM. Why you complicate things Forever 21??? But I still love you. And the epitome of lameness. Yup. To whoever designed this, you better be wearing it to work or out to the streets. And feel okay in it.
This part about fashion, I really don’t get. It’s better if I just remain a commoner haha. To me comfort is key and of course if you look nice in it that's even better. Once in a while when they launch something legit, I'll bookmark the pieces I like in a folder. It's like a 'To Buy' shopping list. When the folder is kinda filled with items and when the shopping urge is there, I'll look through the items and filter out stuff that I don’t like. You know how sometimes you like something and then after a second or third look you actually don’t like it anymore? Those will go. The rest? I BUY. Waiting for the parcel to arrive is E.X.C.R.U.C.I.A.T.I.N.G but I love it. That's what online shopping is about yo! I know there are lots of F21 shops in town but it's just different. Browsing the physical sale rack is a nightmare (if you've been to the stores) cos you can't even slide the hangers left or right at all. The racks are always SO full of stuff I'm so afraid they might just break when I touch them. But online is different. I can shop in bed (plus plus plus point), I can view one million tabs of clothes at the same time, I can see the measurements, I can read reviews, I can pay online.. It's freaking shiok. I know most of you worry about the same thing - the fit. That was also my main concern when I first started shopping online. Never try how to buy? All I can say is, online shopping is about taking risks. Don’t you think it’s quite exciting when you order something and don’t know if it will fit you well? Plus, the review section really helps cos you can read what other people who bought the same thing have to say, then make your decision. Eventually when you try them on and they fit, it's like, HURRAY!!!!!! *fireworks* If they don’t, oh well. You either alter them or if they’re cheap and not worth the effort, you chuck them aside haha. #storyofmylife Since I’ve been shopping online for so long, I kind of understand my body and I know my size well. Sometimes I get something too small, sometimes too large. That’s if they screw up their sizing and produce inconsistent shit. But most of the time I get the right size and am a happy shopper! :) Anw just my two cents on fashion and shopping. Please go ahead and buy whatever clothes you feel comfortable or look good in. Ultimately that’s what defines you. With or without holes, with or without bra.
