#missgoobinbali - Where to stay in Ubud + Getting around Bali

Hello from Bali!

We've been here for 7 days, and we have another week to go lol. Really the nua trip of my life hahaha.

today is our last day in Ubud so we are just chilling in the room for how, waiting for the sun to tone down a bit before heading out to collect our laundry, then for our evening walk! It's so so so hot here!

Ahlao is taking a nap (we sleep SO MUCH here zomg bliss is real) so lemme write about what we've done so far! :)

I finished packing my luggage at like 6am on the day of our flight! Talk about procrastination haha. Our flight was at 820am :') Thank goodness for these travel bags from Style Degree, which made packing so much easier! Not to mention organised too!

And yes I always have to pack Gooby's photo with me when I travel! And that dog toy cos I CANNOT sleep without it.

Took a grab hitch to the airport and made it in time of course!

We didn't have time to change money before the trip cos we were both so busy clearing work so we changed at the airport, at a shitty rate of course haha. While Ahlao was at it, I went to collect our wifi router from Changi Recommends! The counter is at the departure hall; you can't collect your stuff once you enter the transit area, so do take note!

Flew SQ this time cos Ahlao redeemed our Krisflyer miles for this flight! But still paid $100+ for misc fees haha. 

Arriving in Bali! This reminded me of our Maldives honeymoon haha. Like the seaplane view!

Even my nails are holiday ready hehe. Got rainbow nails (with a smiley on the yellow nail) done at Grace Nail this time!

After we landed, our Klook driver received us and drove us to Ubud, where we will be spending 7 nights! A bit long la but like I said, we want to nua so ya hahaha.

I booked the ride online (at like 5am on the same day) and paid about $26 for the airport transfer to Ubud. The rates vary according to your destination!

Our accommodation in Ubud

We are staying at The Nani Ubud!

I actually saw this listing on airbnb (I always book my Bali stays via airbnb) but it turned out to be cheaper if we booked via Agoda so that's what we did! It's a small hotel about 5-7 minutes (by scooter) away from the main Ubud area! I love how there's a lot of greenery surrounding the entire property!

There was no one at the reception when we reached but our mood damn chill so we just sat down and waited for about 10 minutes before someone attended to us. 

This is the common area where you can do work, or have breakfast!

It's a very small and rather new place, but very cosy vibes! Best thing is the price point really. We got our room for like $42 per night lol. And breakfast is provided! :D

Love the really simple and modern decor!

I didn't even know there's a tub in every room! There's also a shower at the side. It was a really spacious bathroom! Very rare for this price leh hehe lucky max.

And a pretty mirror too. The tiles reminded me of home hehe. We have the same ones in our bathroom!

Put down our stuff, changed into lighter clothes, and off we went to explore the hood! And yes that's my Dayre bag; love it so much!

This hotel got no lift, but haz many leaves! Love how they did up the stair way!

This heart print top is from Zalora! It's a little long for me, so I wore it as a tie waist top! ;) With some improvisation, I unbuttoned the bottom and secured the ends with a matching heart ring!

Favourite high waist denim shorts that fit me like a glove from Something Borrowed, also from Zalora! I'm wearing XL for both :)

Saw these cute flowers that looked like pom poms on our way out! We took a long 45 minutes walk out since we haven't rented a scooter yet. Saw soooo many doggies here!

We also saw a lady selling Sate Babi (pork satay) by the road and it smelt soooo gud,  so we stopped for what was our first meal in Bali hehe.

Sat down there and then to devour these! A few locals came by to get the set with rice too! I think she serves mainly regulars around here.

We've been eating a lot of street fud this trip cos we want to try whatever the locals eat hehe. Of course we also visited a few places that were recommended by some of my IG followers, or places we tried and liked from our last trip in May 2018!

The Elephant Ubud

We came here last year and I fell in love with the food and ambience. Everything is vegetarian or vegan here, but oh so delicious! 

And the view.. <3 I feel really peaceful and relaxed everytime I come here!

Had to order this again! Dragonfruit mango smoothie. The normal version is made with yoghurt and the vegan version with coconut milk!

The Elephant Ubud is off the main street, tucked in a quite corner. Best to come here via scooter! :)

Isn't the smoothie so visually gorgeous?! And it tastes so damn gud too! Just natural sweetness from the fruits ahhhh it's soooo gud! Ahlao say cannot share, so must order two haha. He loves it like mad too!

LOVE. THIS. SO. MUCH.

We had dinner here so I also got the handmade fettuccine (ordered this during my last visit) while Ahlao had the coconut noodle soup. Also ordered sweet potato chips!

This pasta is DA BOMB. It's handmade, thick, chewy, just perfect. So creamy and unbelievably vegan!

We got the sofa seat and I'm is too heppi.

We had such a gud meal there, really. But so full! Kind of over ordered since the smoothies are very filling on their own too haha.

Don't you love it when I remember to share the prices lol.

For a vegan cafe, I feel that the price is very reasonable and definitely way cheaper than in Singapore! But of course, there's local fud for less than $3 too la haha.

But I can't come to Ubud and not visit The Elephant!!!!!!!!

Rode back to the hotel and KO-ed for three hours in ded while Ahlao watched movies haha. Dayum I'm really suited for this pig like hahaha. 

Sadly, we couldn't access Netflix here, plus I didn't pre-download my Big Bang Theory episodes but thankfully, the hotel has international movie channels. So yup, that sums up our first day in Bali!

Getting around Bali

Just thought I'd share more about the travel options!

During our last trip, Klook Kindly arranged a driver for us but this trip, we decided to rent a scooter instead since we are skipping touristy attractions that are usually located far away and easier to get to via car. 

This time, we wanted to nua a lot so no point getting a driver since it'll be hard to coordinate schedules cos we might improv most of the time haha. Like, we'd want to head out on a whim so having a driver waiting at our beck and call was just a little unnecessary la.

If I don't remember wrongly, it should cost anywhere between $50-55 a day to rent a car with driver. Lots of options online, so do your research!

Scooter rentals are available everywhere here, so I didn't make any prior bookings! I saw the Ubud Scooter Rental office on our way out, so we just walked in! You may also WhatsApp the guy and he will even send the scooter to your hotel! 

There were quite a few different scooters (brand and capacity) available at different daily rates. Ours was $7 a day but since we were renting for a week, it came up to just $5 a day! So total $35 hehe. All you need to produce is your passport and driver's license for the paper work. Ahlao has been biking since he was 18 so I'm in good hands :)

Petrol is available along the road for $1 per litre! You will see sellers conveniently located everywhere so not to worry about being out of gas!

Riding a scooter is generally safe here (I feel la) cos everyone is super nice and patient; they will always give way and smile, or help you wave at bigger vehicles. Of course we  still bought travel insurance cos no one can predicts accidents la. Better be safe than sorry! But I feel as long as you keep within 60km/hour, wear your helmets (the rental rate include 2 helmets), you are good to go! This is a great way to get around especially since there's only two of us. So cheap!!

If you're travelling in a group though, maybe a car would be better since y'all can split the cost! Alternatively, taxi vendors are everywhere - just rmb to bargain haha. There's no GoJek, Grab or Uber, just take note! The Balinese people are fiercely protective of their own people and livelihoods so only local taxi vendors are allowed!
